Federal Capital Territory Courts (Sentencing Guidelines) Practice Direction, 2016
The following Practice Directions was made by Hon. Justice Ishaq Usman Bello, the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory High Court (as he then was) in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 259 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, section 490 (9) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and all other powers enabling him in that behalf.
The objective of this Practice Direction is to set out the procedure for sentencing of corruption and related offences, offences against the person or property, homicide related offences, offences against the State, offences against public order and offences against morality; for the purposes of ensuring uniformity in sentencing, under the provisions of sections 416 and 311 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015
