The 2022 Practice Direction is made by His Lordship Justice Benedict Bakwaph Kany p PhD, FNIALS, FCArb, President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 254F of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, section 36 of the National Industrial Court Act 2006, Order 1, Rule 8(3) of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (Civil Procedure) Rules 2017 and all other powers enabling him in that behalf.

The Practice Direction was signed into law on the 31st Day of May 2022 with a commencement date of 13th June 2022.
The Practice Direction being subsidiary legislation, it is set to be adopted in;
a. filing of applications and motions in trade union matters.
b. marking of documents/exhibits.
The practice direction is aimed at increasing access to justice and ensuring expeditious dispensation of cases.
