Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025

The Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act is one of the four tax reforms laws signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the 26^th of June, 2025. The Act restructures revenue administration by replacing the Federal Inland Revenue Service with the Nigeria Revenue Service as a more autonomous, better-funded, and professionally governed institution.

The Act seeks to address longstanding weaknesses in enforcement capacity and institutional credibility of the erstwhile FIRS by enhancing financial independence, permitting performance-based recruitment, and expanding the Service’s mandate to support subnational tax administration.
