Two Persons That Must Report Every Arrest Made In Each State In Nigeria And To Whom. Daily Law Tips (Tip 425) by Onyekachi Umah, Esq., LLM. ACIArb(UK)
Every quarter in a year, the Commissioner of Police (CoP) on one hand and the other heads of every other security agency in any state in Nigeria on the other hand, must prepare their separate reports on record of all arrests made in the state with or without warrant in relation to state offences or arrests within the State. The reports must be submitted to the Attorney General of the State.
The reports must contain full particulars of the arrested persons showing; alleged offence, date and circumstances of arrest, full name, occupation and residential address as well as height, photograph, full fingerprint impressions and any other means of identification.
Note that failure to comply or discharge responsibility without reasonable cause must be treated as misconduct by the appropriate authority.
