The Practice Directions were made by HON. JUSTICE HUSSEINI BABA YUSUF, Chief Judge of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 259 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Amended), High Court Act, CAP 510 Laws of the FCT, 2006, Section 89 of the District Court Act, CAP 495 Laws of FCT, 2006 and by virtue of all other laws enabling me in that behalf.

The objective of the small claims procedure is to provide easy access to an informal, inexpensive and speedy resolution of simple debt recovery disputes in the District Courts.
