Lifting And Allied Work Equipment (Safety) Regulations, 2018 been subsidiary legislation, were made pursuant to section 49 of the Factories Act by the Honorable Minister for Labour and Employment, Sen. Dr. Chris N. Ngige on the 11th day of January 2018 whilst the 12th of December, 2018 is its commencement date.

These Regulations make provisions for the safety of persons coming in contact with or involved with the design, construction, use, installation, the alteration, maintenance, manufacture, repair, inspection, or testing of lifting equipment, or other allied work equipment used in raising, lowering, pushing, and pulling items or persons in a workplace or premises accessible to the general public in Nigeria.

These Regulations shall to the inclusion of other things apply to—
(a) lifting equipment, lifting accessories, and other allied work equipment used by an employee at a workplace or premises ;

(b) an employer or employee, who supervises the design, construction,
use, installation, alteration, maintenance, manufacture, repair, inspection, or testing of lifting equipment, lifting accessories, or other allied work equipment in a workplace or premises ;

(c) concerning sub-regulation (2)(a) of this regulation, a person charged with the provision of lifting equipment, lifting accessories, or other allied work equipment;

The Regulations are partitioned into six parts of about 43 sections.
