AMCON Acts Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (Amendment) Act

The Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (Amendment) Act, 2021 is the present position on the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria. Earlier are; the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (Amendment No. 2) Act, 2019, the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (Amendment) 2015, the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria Act No. 4 2010,  and the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (Amendment No. 2) Act, 2019.

The new amendment seeks to extend the tenor of the Resolution Cost Fund, grant access to the Special Tribunal established by the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act, 2020 and to confer on the Corporation the powers to take possession, manage, foreclose or sell, transfer, assign or otherwise deal with the asset or property used as security for eligible bank assets.

The Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (Amendment) Act, 2021 contains 6 sections and was signed into law on the 12th of November, 2021 by the President of Nigeria, His Excellency Mohammadu Buhari, GCFR.

The Act was first enacted in 2010, amended in 2015 and recently amended in 2021 and since to have an in depth knowledge of this law requires knowing all the positions as provides in the documents one has to read the three documents.
