In order to prevent nuisance and to maintain environmental health standards, any room in any premises in any part of Nigeria, must have window openings that are not less than one-eight (1/8) of the floor area. Such window must be positioned to allow direct sunlight and fresh air from outside.
To put no window or a window lesser than the approved measurement is a crime. It is punishable with a fine not more than #50,000.00 for individuals but #250,000 for corporate bodies or an imprisonment for 6 months. Where an offender is not a first time offender, there will be no option of fine.
