The landmark case of Mojekwu V. Mojekwu is celebrated for many reasons, aside its lead judgement being written by the revered Justice Niki Tobi (J.C.A, as he then was), the judgment emphasised on the rights of women to inherit property in any part of Nigeria, irrespective of culture, religion and social norms. The judgment also declared customs and cultures that violates the fundamental human rights of persons (including women) invalid. It has been a huge foundation of similar judgments since 1997. Thanks to the Counsel in the case; Nnamdi Ibegbu For Appellant(s) and Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu For Respondent(s).
